Southern California Armenian Democrats Choose Raul Bocanegra for State Assembly District 39
–Bocanegra wins support from key Democratic club–
[PACOIMA, CA] —Raul Bocanegra’s campaign for State Assembly today announced an endorsement from the Southern California Armenian Democrats (SCAD). SCAD is the largest Armenian-American Democratic club in Southern California, with over 500 members as well as a network of offices and chapters throughout the region.
SCAD’s endorsement broadens Bocanegra’s support across the district and comes just days before the California Democratic Party convention where Bocanegra will receive a formal endorsement from the state party. In January, Bocanegra won over 94% of the vote during the Democratic Party Pre-Endorsement Conference. With that win, Bocanegra easily surpassed the 70% threshold needed for his endorsement to be placed on the consent calendar during the State Convention – virtually guaranteeing an official endorsement from the California Democratic Party.
“Raul Bocanegra is a leader that we can trust to be a strong voice, friend, and advocate for the Armenian-American community,” said Southern Californian Armenian Democrats President Mike Matosian. “Raul is a coalition builder with a deep dedication to giving everyone he represents a voice in Sacramento. The Southern California Armenian Democrats are proud to endorse Raul Bocanegra for State Assembly.”
SCAD now joins Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Congressmen Tony Cardenas and Adam Schiff, State Senator Bob Hertzberg, Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson, Los Angeles City Councilmember Nury Martinez, LAUSD Board member Monica Ratliff, Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles, and hundreds of grassroots community leaders, local small business owners, educators, and labor leaders united behind Raul Bocanegra for State Assembly.
