–Bocanegra holds an enormous $456,807 cash-on-hand advantage over incumbent Patty Lopez–
[PACOIMA, CA]Raul Bocanegra’s campaign for State Assembly today reported raising $576,916 with $456,807 cash-on-hand as of the December 31st, 2015 fundraising deadline. By contrast, incumbent Patty Lopez, report raising just $28,258 during the same period. Lopez also reported $1,582 cash-on-hand and debts totaling $1,650.24, putting her in the red entering the heart of the primary campaign.
Bocanegra’s impressive fundraising haul gives his campaign yet another key advantage entering the 2016 Primary Election. Last weekend, over 94% of local Democratic Party delegates voted to endorse Bocanegra at the regional Democratic Party Pre-Endorsement Conference, making a final vote to endorse by state party delegates during the state convention in February a mere formality.
“The support I’ve received from so many across our community and the state has been nothing sort of energizing and inspiring,” said Raul Bocanegra. “The Northeast San Fernando Valley needs leadership that can deliver new jobs, improve our schools, make our neighborhoods safer, and create opportunities for everyone to succeed. I am truly honored that so many are not only uniting behind my campaign, but are stepping up to ensure that this campaign succeeds.”
Since launching his campaign for State Assembly, Bocanegra has united a coalition of supporters that is unprecedented in it’s diversity and size. Early supporters include; Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Congressman Tony Cardenas and Adam Schiff, State Senator Bob Hertzberg, Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson, Los Angeles City Councilmember Nury Martinez, LAUSD Board member Monica Ratliff, hundreds of grassroots community leaders, local small business owners, educators, and labor leaders.
